# AI governance committee

The cross-functional body that takes the decisions a gate cannot: accepting residual risk above a product owner's authority, granting exceptions, weighing value trade-offs and approving the policy set. It decides; the pipeline's gates enforce its decisions and record the evidence. US federal agencies run such boards by mandate [1].
